Maria Hopwood is a freelance writer based near the beautiful city of Cambridge, from which she has gained much inspiration.
Maria has been freelance writing since 2013, managing her writing work around her full time role as an administrator.
Published writing includes a portfolio of over 80 articles, for LocalSecrets, a local online magazine. Maria's work mainly focuses on local history, but she is able to diversify and write about other subjects upon request.
Also a keen blogger, follow Maria as she explores her interests in Writing, History, Culture and Wildlife on her blog, aptly named Maria Explores.
By day, Maria works at the University of Cambridge.
She has over 25 years of administrative experience behind her and understands the importance of reliability, excellent customer service, flexibility, working to deadlines and attention to detail.

Alongside article writing and blogging, Maria can also be found working on a novel (which she has been working on for a very long time!) and short stories.
Maria is an avid reader of both fiction and non fiction, has a passion for most sports (although this is is mainly involves watching not playing) and enjoys a wander around galleries, museums and sculpture trails.
She is also currently experimenting with art, including painting and hiding rocks as part of the Love on The Rocks Facebook community (a spin off of the Kindness Rocks Project)
Maria is a keen Instragrammer (find her @writermaria) and can be seen regularly pointing her phone at random things catching her eye.
